Background

We consider ourselves well versed in Building Control, particularly within the refurbishment sector, having worked on various different types of existing buildings around the country. Our systems have been developed to satisfy our clients’ requirements, with efficient technical support and accurate responses, ensuring our clients are not left to pick up the pieces associated with miscommunication. We are dedicated to always appointing a single point of contact and Client Manager on all of our schemes.

Outcome

We were recently involved in the refurbishment of an existing YMCA community building within the North East to create a new high-end professional gym which is open to the community. The unusual open plan design created certain challenges, such as the protection of an existing single means of escape stairway. However, through close liaison with the Design Team and external bodies, such as the local Fire Authority, we overcame these potential issues through the strategic positioning of fire curtains. We were able to provide a proactive Building Control service for our client which enabled the scheme to complete on time. We were also pleased to be involved in a high profile scheme which was pivotal in regenerating what was a poorly-used community facility into a high profile professional facility.
