An estate in Odsal, Bradford has been featured on the BBC documentary programme, Rip Off Britain, after issues were found in the planning and building process causing the new homes to be valued at £0 (source: BBC News).
The BBC programme discovered that 13 homes on the estate, which had been built adjoining a former landfill site, did not apparently receive a final Building Control certificate. The property owners claim to be unaware as to whether the necessary protective measures were put in place during construction. Subsequent revaluations have valued the properties at zero pounds.
Such apparently drastic issues in the construction process are not the usual issues you might expect to find during a New Build Snagging Report. However, they do exist to protect homebuyers and highlight potential large and small problems that a homeowner can raise with their builder. Stroma Building Control offers New Build Inspection Surveys across England and Wales.
If you've recently or are about to move into a new property, you can book a Snagging Inspection using our online registration portal. All our property snagging reports are completed by a qualified surveyor. You'll receive a photographic report to use as evidence in negotiations with your builder.
